The “Type D” Kubotan is attached with a keychain at one end & the other end is tapered to a conical spear head type point, which comes with a metal screw on/off cap to prevent accidental pocket or purse tear. It is also provided with a finger ring & wave grip for enhanced grasping & control.

The Kubotan can be used with & without the metal cap as a flailing weapon, glass breaker & can attack any pressure point with a lot more pressure than what a finger can. It is usually held in either an icepick grip (for hammer fist strikes) or a forward grip (for stabbing, pressure point attacks & seizing).

The Kubotan is a small & deadly self-defense weapon also known as the “instrument of attitude adjustment”; it was conceptualized by Soke Takayuki Kubota for the female officers of the LAPD. It is a great tool for women safety. Generally 5 to 6 inches in length; it is designed to be easily concealed in the hand.

The Kubotan is designed to be used against bony surfaces, soft tissue and nerve points. It is effective because of the temporary paralysis or extreme pain it causes. Even for those without experience in a martial art, the Kubotan provides an inexpensive and easily learned method of self defense.  The Kubotan increases the power of any strike.

Good targets are the groin, stomach, solar plexis, throat, the arm, the shin, hip bone, collarbone, ankle, and kneecap. A sharp strike to a bony part of the body will encourage an assailant to stop his attack. A harder, well placed blow can easily break bones--especially if the force of the blow is not hindered by clothing.
